Coming to Rajasthan is like stepping into a storybook. It’s a place where history comes alive, with magnificent forts and palaces that seem to rise out of the desert sands. There is the Pink City of Jaipur, the Blue City of Jodhpur, the Sacred Oasis of magical Pushkar, the City of Lakes – Udaipur (our favorite) and so many more!
For us, walking the ancient narrow streets and alleyways of Udaipur that twist and turn in and out of the lakes was our favorite thing to do. Crisscrossing foot bridges and colorful bazaars with pre-wedding photo shoots…wow! So many colors and scents and vistas.

Our 10-day Rajasthan itinerary takes you through the best of this area, covering major cities including Jaipur, Pushkar, Jodhpur and Udaipur. We also include a heritage stay at Deogarh Fort – which will have you stay in a suite within a 17th century Royal Palace.
There are stops at ancient temples, forts and palaces like Ranakpur Jain Temple, Sahastra Bahu Temple, Chittorgarh Fort, Garh Palace and Ranthambore Fort. We include a scenic train ride and thrilling wildlife experiences. Not to mention the Taj Mahal one of the 7 wonders of the world!

Getting Around Rajasthan

There are a variety of ways to get around and explore Rajasthan tourist attractions. Here’s a breakdown of the best options:
Hiring a Driver:

This is a popular and often recommended choice for tourists. A driver can navigate the roads, handle parking, and provide local insights. You can hire a driver for your entire trip or for specific journeys between cities.
Keep in mind that a driver with a car registered as a “taxi” will only be able to drive 80 km/hour on major motorways, while a private car can drive 120 km/hour. This can be very frustrating – driving quite slowly between cities as we did!
Recommended drivers for Rajasthan Itinerary:
Mr. Sandeep – What’s App: +91 86194 00664 – We can highly recommend Mr. Sandeep as he was our driver for our Rajasthan trip itinerary. Mr. Sandeep speaks English, anticipates needs and makes lovely recommendations. He is also a very safe driver, is punctual and a pleasure to have around.
Mr. Singh- What’s App: +91 98290 54321 – Known for his safe driving, knowledge of Rajasthan, and friendly demeanor.
Rajasthan Cab Service – What’s App: +91 94140 34567 – Offers a variety of cars and drivers, with good reviews for their reliability and service.
Train Travel

India has an extensive train network, and traveling by train can be a scenic and comfortable way to experience the country. For longer journeys, consider booking tickets in upper classes (like AC 1st Class or AC 2nd Class) for more comfort and space.
You can book train tickets online through the Indian Railways website: https://www.irctc.co.in/
Flights

For traveling longer distances or saving time, domestic flights are a good option. Rajasthan has several airports, including Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Udaipur, connecting major cities within the state and to other parts of India.
You can book flights through various online travel agencies or directly with airlines like Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet.
Car Rental
Renting a car gives you flexibility, but driving in India can be challenging due to traffic, road conditions, and unfamiliar driving practices. Unless you’re an experienced driver and are willing to put up with some high stress situations, we recommend one of the other recommendations.
Getting Around Within Cities

Within cities, you can use auto-rickshaws, taxis, or even cycle-rickshaws for shorter distances. App-based cab services like Ola and Uber are also available in major cities.
Recommendation
For most tourists, hiring a driver offers the best combination of comfort, convenience, and local knowledge. It allows you to relax and enjoy the journey without the stress of driving yourself. Train travel is also a great option for experiencing the countryside and interacting with locals.
Consider a mix of driver and train travel to get you to the top Rajasthan tourist attractions – just like we did.
